Neston Inns
Susan Chambers
Many a Neston inn has vanished into those mists of time, sometimes without trace but sometimes just leaving a name. But we can gather together much of the history of a good number of local establishments from the days when they catered for the maritime and passenger trade to the present time of dwindling numbers of licensed houses.
Taking an example from around 120 years ago, with a population of 2,240 Neston and Parkgate had fourteen licensed premises and Little Neston had five. Plenty of choice there.
